Islamabad Pakistan Marriott Hotel
In one of the country's deadliest attacks, a suicide bomber attacked the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad, killing at least 43 people, injuring nearly 250 and setting fire to the building in the Pakistani capital. The third attack on the Marriott hotel in Islamabad occurred on Sunday, reportedly killing more than 60 people and wounding 266 when a truck loaded with about a ton of explosives detonated its vehicle on the hotel grounds.
The explosion, which destroyed parts of the hotel and caused a major fire, came on a day of heightened security in Islamabad, with President Asif Ali Zardari addressing a joint session of parliament just hours before the blast. The attack was reportedly intended to hurt Pakistan's leaders, including the prime minister, who was due to meet at the hotel.
In his speech to parliament, Zardari said Pakistan must stop militant groups using its territory for attacks in other countries. He claimed that the Pakistani Supreme Court in Islamabad had not offered a clear procedure or means of resolving the dispute. If Pakistani courts had to deal with the matter, it would have been more practical and economic if the court had acted according to the experience of Pakistani law. Pakistan, not the court, seems capable of solving the worst terrorist attack in Pakistan's history through its own court process.

On the streets where most of Pakistan's 170 million people live, the view across the street from the Marriott is a lasting symbol of everything that is wrong with our corrupt and dysfunctional nation. It often seems that Pakistan is running out of hotels because of the strain of the incessant hotel muzak. The Marriott is one of Pakistan's most popular hotels and the only hotel in the country to serve alcohol. It accommodates a large number of international guests from all over the world.
The French submarine engineer, who was staying at the Sheraton Hotel in Karachi in May 2002, was targeted by investigators. Al Qaeda also targeted the Jewish Paradise Hotel, a family-owned hotel in Lahore, Pakistan's second-largest city, in 2005 and 2002. Three suicide bombers broke into security and struck at the Marriott Hotel and the neighboring Grand Hyatt Hotel almost simultaneously. The Marriott Hotel is also the place where the world's most notorious terrorist group, Al Qaeda in Pakistan (AQP), has established its base to explain its ideology and ideology of terrorism and terrorism against Pakistan to the world community.
The Marriott Hotel in Karachi was damaged when a female suicide bomber blew herself up outside the hotel in the early hours of 2 May 2005. Hours after the explosion, the Marriott hotel continued to burn so hard that it was at risk of collapse.
When the flames struck the heavily guarded US chain's hotel, police said people were still trapped in the building. Marriott claims that police need the following types of witnesses: hotel employees in Pakistan, and Marriott claims that any discovery would necessarily mean that they would not be employed by the local contractors tasked with hotel security, but by hotel guests who survived the bombing.
Marriott claims that the majority of these witnesses live in Pakistan, and if the case were heard outside Pakistan, there would be no need for plaintiffs to actually travel to Pakistan. Pakistani courts will not help this court force witnesses to appear in Maryland.
Location is everything, and the Marriott is just a few blocks from the Pakistani Embassy in Washington, D.C. The blast occurred just hours before Asif Ali Zardari's first visit to Washington to be sworn in as Pakistan's president. The hotel also hosted politicians from other cities who had come to Islamabad to listen to the president, as well as a number of foreign dignitaries. After the bombing, he gave a nationally televised speech promising to rid Pakistan of cancer.
His first day in office was dominated by a series of attacks on the country's military and security forces, as well as terrorist attacks. Most of the attacks are believed to have originated in Pakistan's tribal belt, where al Qaeda and the Taliban have their havens.
